Government Shutdown Will Not Affect Border Crossing or Security

NPR reports that the Department of Homeland Security and its security-related functions will not be affected in the event of a U.S. government shutdown.  Border security is listed as an exempt activity in government documents regarding the potential shutdown.  A shutdown could occur if Congress does not pass a budget by midnight tonight.
